What this is all about - Scroll down for latest updates!!!

This blog is all about a kayaking project for Nepali girls and our adventure to get over there and help them out. We will keep you updated through this blog with how sponsorship and donations are going and hopefully while we are over there we can keep posting on here - Thanks for checking it out.

The aim of the project is to produce a group of female river guides to work on the rivers in Nepal as safety kayakers, raft guides and kayak instructors. It will be a perfect base for the women to start training and eventually work and support themselves as employees or free lance guides within the Nepal white-water industry.

If you would like to help out in any way with this project whether it's advice, sponsorship, gear, donations, idea's or anything else then please send us an email, give us a call or follow the donations link, it would be much appreciated. Cheers

Check out Inka Trollsas's website (she is the instigator of this awesome project), which has more info about the trip and how things are going from her end. http://www.farawayadventures.com/nepaligirlkayakers.php

North Island Donations

My grandfather Frog is a bit of a legend and anyone who knows him, knows that he is still definitely young at heart. He has been a member of the Edgecumbe lions for years and years and my mum even remembers doing a presentation for them when she was about 16. A few weeks ago I went home to Edgecumbe and did a presentation for the local Lions club, they were impressed by this project and have generously donated $500 towards it. Thanks very much to all the Edgecumbe Lions members for your support and I look forwards to presenting to you again when i return.

Also a huge thanks to the following people for their very generous donations, this money will be a huge help towards equipment for the Nepali Girls .

- Mike Ward
- John and Meagan Ward
- John Hooker

Thanks so much, Sophie

AQUA BOUND

Jill-Marie, a lovely Canadian girl myself and a few other Kiwi's had the pleasure of meeting in Uganda has been doing some awesome stuff over her side of the world. She was planning on coming to Nepal but won't make the trip this time. But that hasn't stopped her from doing her part in this project and she has been hard at work looking for sponsors and raising funds.

So with all her work she managed to get Aqua Bound (a paddle company) to donate 6 paddles, she has also had a few other bits and pieces donated as well as some funding which is going to try and buy a kayak and get it shipped over to Nepal.

Thanks heaps Aqua Bound for your support with this project and Jill-Marie, we will miss you on the river, but i'm sure we'll get to paddle again soon.

TOP OF THE RANGE DRY TOPS

Another update from our yoga master Whitney who is off to Nepal in just under a week. She has received three dry tops from Kokatat!!! who make some of the top dry tops around. This is fantastic news as we are in need of dry tops so the girls can paddle hard without getting too cold or wet as we have got some pretty big days on the river. With the money she has raised from her yoga teaching she has purchased a bunch of warm Kokotat fleece tops and a pyrhana ammo (kayak).
Thanks heaps Kokatat and to Whitney who has put a lot of hard work into this project so far.

Thanks Outward Bound and The Sir Edmund Hillary Outdoor Pursuits Centre

A big thanks Anakiwa Outward Bound as they have given us a whole stack of spray decks to take over with us.

Also huge thanks to The Sir Edmund Hillary Outdoor Pursuits Centre who have donated a Perception Whiplash which will also belong to The Nepali Girls Kayak Club and be on the river for years to come.

Thanks a bunch!
